Editing for cameraman

Editing of a showreel for Igor Van Ditz, Cameraman. This showreel was to advertise the camera work on more dramatic shoots as compared to another showreel we produced that was more for commercial events filming.

Description:

  • Much of the footage was originally shot for drama shorts and suggested a narrative treatment.
  • Taking the footage from separate projects as framing devices for each other and varying the pace through various soundtracks we were able to achieve an experimental piece of editing that can be considered a work in its own right.
  • Much of the footage was originally shot with grading treatments in mind, therefore a lot of the footage was lacking contrast.
  • Particularly difficult was bringing up orange skin tones while retaining some of the turquoise colour cast of the changing room.
  • The director was looking to clean up the dirty wall in the squash court which was achieved by complex keying of every cut.
  • The final film look was achieved by using a superior deinterlacing tool.
