Entry Level Camera Skills

This introductory course will use MiniDV cameras and teach basic production techniques. This is a fun course that has a lot of practical using the video camera, tripod and mics. It is important to understand the collaborative nature of film making, this will be stressed throughout the course.

Digital Video Beginners

Introduce basic concepts around digital video whilst involving students in creative activities using camera and editing software with immediate outcomes. List techniques used in preproduction planning e.g. basic storyboarding, scriptwriting

VIDEO POST-PRODUCTION level 2

The aim of this course is to enable students to use editing tools to enable more reflective and precise edits. We shall discuss and practice more advanced techniques used by professional editors.

This course seeks to outline the tools used when editing with Final Cut Pro (e.g. Markering, timeline editing, storyboard editing). There shall be times where reflections on learners edits and sample clips shall be recorded, it is hoped that a range of subjects and editing styles shall be engaged with. This course acts as a solid grounding in post produciton theory and practice and should assist learners when editing either for themselves or others in the future.

DVD Authoring using DVD Studio Pro

Having built a few DVDs the learners wish to create a more customised disk and possibly move onto specific functions for a client e.g. a random script that works. The examples used is a multiple language DVD for a doctors surgery and health awareness campaign.

DVD Studio Pro works with audio, video, graphics, and text materials that you have already edited and orchestrates them into a DVD that can be played on a DVD player or a suitably equipped computer.

FCP Advanced

A course for learners that desire to learn the more complex effects tools in FCP so that the they can produce polished productions and special effects sequences. This course shows what can be achieved with a desktop editing program compared to After Effects with a little imaginative thought and practice. Learners completing this course confidently should be looking for work in effects industry and at the very least should try to buy a system to try to get work using these skills.
