VIDEO POST-PRODUCTION level 2

The aim of this course is to enable students to use editing tools to enable more reflective and precise edits. We shall discuss and practice more advanced techniques used by professional editors.

This course seeks to outline the tools used when editing with Final Cut Pro (e.g. Markering, timeline editing, storyboard editing). There shall be times where reflections on learners edits and sample clips shall be recorded, it is hoped that a range of subjects and editing styles shall be engaged with. This course acts as a solid grounding in post produciton theory and practice and should assist learners when editing either for themselves or others in the future.


Agreed learning outcomes. At the end of the course, the learner should:

  • Explain different compression systems used in Final Cut Pro and why they are put to use.
  • Show skill in ordering/naming video in an ordered and logical manner
  • Explain the importance of markering footage to sync up audio and visual edits
  • Show skill in creating basic effects and titling
  • Compare different approaches to editing based on various types of source footage.
  • Edit a short sequence of digital video using a variety of edit tools in Final Cut Pro.
  • Demonstrate effective use of storyboard to outline edit intentions and pace.
